Another military watch from Micromilspec. I love the fact they design and manufacturer bespoke military watch faces. The name “Micromilspec” kind of hints at what they do.
This one was done for the No. 330 Squadron RNoAF (Norwegian: 330 skvadron) is a helicopter unit of the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) and is Norway’s military search and rescue service. The squadron operates ten Westland Sea King helicopters based at six airbases along the coast.
The metallic Sea King logo is laser cut, plated, and lies on top of the patterned dial on the MK43. The Sea King is a one of a kind tool of military and civil service, operated by the utmost excellence and competence.
The dial on the MK43 is designed using details from the soon retiring Sea King. The dial pattern shows the arrows from the underside of the Sea King, which is the first thing you see when you are rescued.
The rehaut, numerals, hands, and illustration are all elements directly connected to the legendary Sea King. From rotors to cockpit
instruments, the hour- and minute hands used on the MK43 uses the same design as the original cockpit clock, while the seconds-hand has a red and white counterweight, matching the colors and shape of the Sea King’s tail rotor.
The MK43 uses a 60-click, bidirectional bezel, adding valuable functions as a secondary timer and set to Zulu time. The bezel is CNC machined and has a sunray brushed and circular brushed top with etched engravings filled with colored epoxy.
Not drawn entirely from scratch in GIMP and assembled and coded in WatchMaker.
